Personal Background

Of Eritrean heritage, Markay was born in Moscow, Russia, and spent his formative years in Kenya and Botswana, where he completed his Cambridge A-Levels. He subsequently pursued his tertiary education at the University of Cape Town, earning his degrees in Civil Engineering. Over the past 16 years, his career has spanned major international infrastructure projects across South Africa, East Africa, Australia and Mozambique, where he is currently based.
